Senior Year and a New Blog

Tuesday, October 12, 2010 § 0

Senior year’s been in session for almost two months now and things are finally starting to slow down a bit!

I’ve been super busy with school, my clubs, and the homecoming fundraising committee which I co-chaired.

Unfortunately, I’ve barely picked up my camera in that whole time, and I’ve been way too busy to update this blog.

Partially because I started a new blog, for my English class, called LGBT etcetera. It’s a blog (written from a teen perspective, duh) on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues. I’ve written a few posts on it so far, and I like how they’ve been turning out. So if you have a chance, check it out, especially because it’s likely to be updated much more frequently than this blog this school year
So yah, that’s it. Pop over there if you get a chance, but if that’s not your cup-of-tea that's cool too.
I hope that all of you are having wonderful falls so far =].

So I have a massive backlog of photos to post/posts to write, but I figured I might as well start with something recent!

This Saturday, I had a photo shoot with Heather Daigle (of the awesome blog, Speak the Culture). This was something new for me, as Heather’s going to be using the photos for her social media presence (twitter, linked-in, facebook, etc.) and to eventually help create a professional brand for herself online.

We shot on the mostly empty Northwestern Campus, and I had a blast working with her. I only hope that my photos do her vivacious self justice. Here’s just a few of my (quickly edited) favorites from the shoot.

On an unrelated note, my blog has a totally new look, so if you read it via RSS come and check it out and let me know what you think!

So yesterday, I had a photo shoot with my awesome friend Kate. There wasn’t really a point to it, but it was pretty fun, despite the multitude of mosquito bites we both received. I’m really happy with how the below picture turned out.

I was hanging out in my room today, browsing the web, and I though back to last summer, when I redid my room and it was organized and just really pleasant to be in. In contrast, as of this morning my room sported piles of clothes on the floor, stacks of paper everywhere, and loads of knickknacks and garbage on every available surface.

I spent a little under an hour throwing things out or just moving objects to where they should be. My room looks a whole lot better now, and I feel a lot better when I’m in it. There’s a lot of research (which I’m too lazy to find) that posits that your environment plays a large role in your mood, and I would totally agree.

Stop Motion

Sunday, May 30, 2010 § 0

Here’s the full stop motion video, it’s part of my Spanish video project which is also my final. Hope you enjoy it. The song is Juana Molina’s “Vive Solo”.

Spanish Stop-motion Video

Sunday, May 23, 2010 § 0

So for my Spanish video project, I (along with the rest of my group, Kate, Emily and Marika) have to include a music video along with three commercials, and our general plot.

We didn’t think we’d be able to pull of a dance-y, loud, party music video, so we decided we’d do a mellow, artsy, slightly pretentious stop-motion video to Juana Molina’s “Vive Solo

Here are some of my favorite stills. I’ll definitely post the full video on here once it’s finished.

This summer, I will read many books, take tons of photos, cook exciting recipes, explore Spain, make some money, tour colleges, and spend loads of time with my friends and family. Now, I study.

I’m back!

Saturday, April 17, 2010 § 0

So, it’s been a super long time since I posted (slightly less than two months)! I said last time that I was taking a sort of hiatus from blogging because of my busyness, but I’m actually even busier now I would say. Today I had to:
  • Get books from the library.
  • Do an hour and forty-five minutes of BC Calc multiple choice review.
  • Prepare a history presentation.
  • Find a burn a video clip for said presentation.
  • Write a page summary of my week in Spanish.
  • Write and edit diary entries from the point of view from a book character.
  • Find artifacts to go with the diary entry.
Tomorrow I have to go do a whole lot of other stuff that I didn’t do today, but you’re probably bored already! So, moving on.
I went to San Francisco a few weeks ago for Spring Break and it was fantastic! Loved it there! I also got to visit Berkeley, which was really cool, except it’s a little too big for me. We also visited Alcatraz, which was incredibly cool, and the ferry rides let me take incredible shots of the bay! We also went to Muir woods and gawked at giant red wood trees.
Here are some photos from my trip!
The Mist
A Charter
To Soar
Since then, I’ve been mostly hanging around home trying to let piles of work suffocate me.
Here’s a few more pictures I’ve taken since then that I like.Trio
Thanks for reading, and have a great rest of your weekend everybody!

So I’ve really busy with school and other stuff right now (junior year ftw) and I’ve haven’t been posting very regularly, and that probably won’t change in the foreseeable future.
If you’ve been reading mostly for the photos I post, you can check out my flickr account here or subscribe to the rss feed. A preview of my flickr stream…
A photo I took today in my backyard:
And one I took last night:
And for good measure one of me I took last week after I got my glasses:

And thanks to everyone who has been reading this blog, it means a lot to me.

Happy Valentines Day!

Model UN

Sunday, February 7, 2010 § 0

So this whole weekend (and Thursday and Friday) I’ve been at the Model UN conference at the University of Chicago. It was a lot of fun, but I’m pretty exhausted. Here’s a photo I took earlier today right after I came home.

Photo Adventure with Anna

Sunday, January 24, 2010 § 2

So last week I never posted a picture because it was the weekend before finals and I was busy studying, but finals are over now! (thank god)

On Thursday (after my last final) I went on a “photo-adventure” with one of my friends to a local forest preserve to take pictures. Here are three of my favorites.

Through the Umbrella

Three Leaves

Weekly Photo Thing

Sunday, January 10, 2010 § 0

So for school, I have a blog for spanish class that I need to update every month. For January, we needed to write about our “New Year Resolutions”. I had a few, but one of them was that I’d update my blog weekly with a new photo. I’m not sure if I can keep that up (or the photos just might suck), but here goes.

Here’s my first picture, it’s a triple exposure which I thought was kind of interesting, but I’m not super happy with it. Hopefully they’ll get better as I go though! (I think that’s kind of the point of these things right?)
